Despite the ubiquitous buzz surrounding "Artificial Intelligence" in today's technological landscape, the reality is that true A.I. does not yet exist; instead, what we are interacting with is more accurately defined as Virtual Intelligence (V.I.). While genuine A.I. implies a system possessing actual sentience, self-awareness, and the ability to independently reason and understand the world, current marvels like large language models and predictive algorithms are fundamentally sophisticated illusionists. They do not "know" or "think" in any human sense; rather, they are highly advanced V.I. systems engineered to process vast amounts of data, recognize intricate patterns, and simulate human-like responses within predefined boundaries, brilliantly mimicking intellect without possessing a single spark of consciousness.
This is a good read for what A.I./V.I. really is.
